Jeff Desom is a young filmmaker who featured Hauschka himself as well as his music in his films. The Luxembourg resident uses state of the art technology, while at the same time he is inspired by the past. His breakthrough came with the wonderful, dreamy ‘Morgenrot’, named after the composition of the same name by Hauschka. For this movie, he animated postcards picturing New York around 1900 into a flowing backdrop. ‘Hauschka’s Ghost Piano’ is Desom’s idea: a live performance shaped in the same way as a film, only dated before film existed.
