Hypermodern version of a 19th century ghost performance by one of the most unconventional and charming pianists of this moment. Classically trained pianist/composer Hauschka had a breakthrough with playful and original experiments on the ‘prepared piano’. Incorporating tape, corks, guitar-strings aluminum-foil and other ingredients, he manages to elicit unexpected rhythms and melodies from his instrument. His splendid compositions have roots in both Eastern-Asian music, Satie, Ravel as well as the minimalism of Reich and Nyman.

Jeff Desom is a young filmmaker who featured Hauschka himself as well as his music in his films. The Luxembourg resident uses state of the art technology, while at the same time he is inspired by the past. His breakthrough came with the wonderful, dreamy ‘Morgenrot’, named after the composition of the same name by Hauschka. For this movie, he animated postcards picturing New York around 1900 into a flowing backdrop. ‘Hauschka’s Ghost Piano’ is Desom’s idea: a live performance shaped in the same way as a film, only dated before film existed. Sjansmachine is an interactive installation that works with realtime images and face detection software. The aim of this installation is to bring people closer together in a playfull and fun way. This project is a collaboration between Eindhoven based artists Rolf van Gelder, Carmin Karasic and Olga Mink.

Two dancers and their digital reproduction are the basis of this humouristic and emotional portrait
of man and his relations. Formed after the rules and structure of a game, three installations give way to
a playful dialogue between man and woman, and the digital ‘footprints’ they leave behind.
